Nube Alta Coffee

A specialty coffee store from the volcanoes of El Salvador. Scrolling the home page climbs the mountain from 900 to 1,750 meters, and every coffee appears at the altitude where it grows.

The idea

You don't scroll the page. You climb the volcano.

Coffee from higher farms tastes different: colder nights, slower cherries, denser beans. Instead of explaining that in a paragraph, the site lets you feel it. You start in the coffee rows at the foot of the mountain, walk into the fog at the cloud line, and come out above a sea of clouds with the Santa Ana and Izalco volcanoes on the horizon.

Each of the seven coffees waits at its real altitude, with its bag, tasting notes and price. You can pick a size and grind and add it to the cart right there, without leaving the climb.

What we built

  • 01A theme of its own

No page builder and no store template. Every page is designed and written by hand, so it loads fast and looks exactly as drawn.

  • 02Film that follows the scroll

Three filmed shots of the farms play forward and backward with your scroll, and blend into one another as you climb.

  • 03Add to cart from anywhere

Size and grind on every coffee, connected to WooCommerce. The cart updates instantly without reloading the page.

  • 04A real checkout

Shipping zones, free shipping over $45, taxes and payments. Ready for Stripe, PayPal or a local gateway like Wompi.

  • 05Brand and product photos

The logo, the bag labels and the cup photo were all made for this project. Each label carries the altitude of its farm.

  • 06Works on every phone

The whole climb, the shop and the checkout were tested on real phones, not just in a desktop browser.
